The Power of Colour Psychology

Have you ever bought a product simply because you like the color of its packaging?

When buying a product the majority of customers admit that the visual appearance of the product influences their decision.

In marketing and branding, color psychology is focused on how colors impact consumers' impressions of a brand and whether or not they persuade consumers to consider specific brands or make a purchase.

Let’s look at some colours and what they communicate:

Red stimulates us, it communicates power and urgency, it is high energy and immediately draws our attention. On the other hand; red also says warning and stop so be careful not to send the wrong message by using too much red.

Grey is the colour of elegance and luxury, use it too much however and you may leave your customers with feelings of depression.

Blue is the color of trust. It communicates responsibility, trust and fiscal prowess. This color is used by most financial institutions, police stations and conservative corporate companies.

White says you have absolutely nothing to hide, use white to communicate your openness and transparency to your clients.

Yellow is the color of optimism and positivity.

Green is the color of health, tranquility, and environmental issues.

Black communicates power, intelligence, drama, sophistication and status.

Purple portrays your brand as creative, imaginative and wise.

The colours you choose to represent your brand must be done intentionally ensuring they capture the right message to your customers.
